La Pinta Boogaloo and a meat appreciation seat…

Shopping in Cali is waaay sexier than anywhere else in the world… as demonstrated by Kelly here:

It’s also way more interesting, thanks to things like this brand of ice-cream here…

See, people? Ice-cream can be as politically incorrect as you like in Colombia but as long as everyone’s smiling, everything’s OK. And trust me, in Colombia, everyone is always smiling. We certainly were after we mastered salsa and took to this club the other night:

Back to the supermarket. I especially loved this meat-appreciation seat. You don’t get benches on which to sit and admire the cut of a fine uncooked rump steak in England. And it’s a worse country for it, let me tell you. I could have sat for hours on this bench…

But we had to get back to the hostel and start cooking everything up…

A bunch of us have had such an amazing week between La Serrana in Solento and La Pinta Boogaloo here in Cali – which is basically like staying in a huge mansion, complete with avocado and mango trees and a swimming pool. It’s a bit of a trap because most other things in Cali… not that there’s much, to be honest… are a taxi ride away, but it’s well worth a stay anyway if you need to relax between bouts of treading on people’s toes on a dance floor.

We walked to the zoo today, which is only ten minutes away, so when you tire of doing things like this in your private room…

You can witness monkeys doing similar things down the road. Bienisimo!

Next stop… Bogota, and then it’s onto Rio for the carnival. Sooooo excited! Will be sad to leave the mansion though…
